**Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, today reviewed the implementation status of the Diesel Production Complex project under construction in Assiut Governorate at Assiut National Oil Processing Company (ANOPC).**
The review took place during a meeting with the international and Egyptian companies executing the project, including Mr. Marco Villa, CEO of Technip Energies, the general contractor, and Francesco Camarati, Head of Business Development at Technip Egypt; Engineer Walid Lotfy, Chairman of Petrojet; Engineer Wael Lotfy, Chairman of ENPPI; Engineer Mohamed Badr, Chairman of ANOPC; Engineer Ahmed El-Khalifa, Deputy Chairman of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation for Planning and Projects; and Engineer Khaled El-Badry, Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Projects.
Engineer Badawi emphasized that the project is a national priority for the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, as it is a vital initiative to increase fuel production. The project will raise diesel output from Egyptian refineries, reduce imports by about 40%, and provide significant added value to the national economy and Upper Egypt in particular, where the project is being established on Assiut land.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the progress of ongoing construction works at the project site in Assiut and discussed with company leaders ways to accelerate execution rates, especially now that all required equipment has arrived on site.
The current overall progress of the project has reached 77%, with the target to complete the $3 billion investment project according to schedule by December 2025.
The Minister highlighted the critical role of the Egyptian companies ENPPI and Petrojet, which are cooperating with Technip Energies in executing the project. He noted that these companies contribute exceptional engineering and technical expertise, efficiently implementing such major projects while also increasing the local content of the project.
