Meeting of the Governor of Assiut with the Director of the Fracking Complex Project Hydrogen

During the meeting, the steps and stages taken during the visit were reviewed, and what was discussed with civil society organizations and residents of nearby centers and villages to measure the satisfaction of the community with the implementation of such projects as well as the ambition of these projects to serve the civil society as well as the importance of establishing the project from an environmental point of view in the whole region and Assiut province in particular, as this project will be implemented in accordance with the latest environmental sanitation systems being implemented by the Ministry of Petroleum, in addition to reviewing and contributing In creating jobs for the people of Manflot Center in addition to activating the company’s community participation through development and service projects in the villages of the center and improving the services provided to citizens.

During the meeting, the Governor of Assiut announced his full support for environmental and community studies being carried out in the villages of Manflot Center as part of the implementation of the hydrogen fracking complex project on the land of Asyut province, which is the largest oil refining project to be implemented in Upper Egypt at an investment cost of $2.8 billion and comes in support of the efforts and programs of the state development on the ground, and is one of the most important refining projects being implemented during the current period and aims to maximize the utilization of the state’s resources by using the latest development efforts and programs on the ground. Technologies to refine petroleum using low-value diesel hydrogen fracking technology to turn it into major high-value petroleum products needed by the domestic market, mainly European-specification diesel, high-octane fuel oil, and Natural gas.

He pointed out that the project achieves a distinct return in the field of development for the Upper Egypt region in terms of covering its needs of petroleum products and fuel supplies as well as avoiding the safety and environmental risks associated with the transportation of petroleum products to Upper Egypt through various means and will lead to the opening up of various prospects for development and contribute to the benefit of complementary activities and services and contribute to the provision of jobs, especially to the people of the province.

Engineer Nasser El-Lakkani, director of the project of the hydrogen fracking complex, reviewed the importance of the project and the rates and stages of implementation to date, pointing to the meetings that took place with the specialists in the field of environment in the province and the executive leaders to see the environmental sanitation procedures implemented by the project, which ensure the application of all requirements and environmental safety of the project as well as to measure the satisfaction of the citizens about the importance of the project and study the community impact and benefit that will benefit the people of the province from establishing the project on the land of the province, which will contribute to creating opportunities for development and attracting new investments and job creation for the people of the province.

He pointed out that the new project is being built on the land of Assiut province and has a production capacity of 2.8 million tons per year of diesel with European specifications, in addition to NAFTA used in the production of high-octane gasoline with an additional production capacity of 400,000 tons per year and Natural oil with an additional production capacity of 1,000 tons per year, in addition to coal with a production capacity of 300,000 tons per year and sulfur with a production capacity of 66,000 tons per year by secondary products as part of the program of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to develop The refining industry to ensure the needs of the domestic market for fuel supplies and work to reduce the quantities imported from abroad and reduce part of the import bill to provide foreign exchange.
