ANOPC signs contract for $2.5bn project in Egypt’s Asyut

Cairo – Mubasher: Assiut National Oil Processing Company (ANOPC) has signed the general contractor contract for the mazut hydrogen cracking complex in Asyut, with total investments of $2.5 billion.

The project will produce high-quality petroleum products that meet European standards, with an annual capacity of 2.8 million tonnes, according to a statement.

The project will also produce liquefied petroleum gas and naphtha used in the production of high-octane fuel, which will help cover the energy needs of Upper Egypt.

Egypt’s gas production is expected to reach 7.8 billion cubic feet per day by the end of the fiscal year 2019/2020, Egypt’s finance minister Mohamed Maait stated.
